Claude Andrieux est le second d’une famille d’origine modeste et nombreuse de douze enfants. Il réalise des films documentaires pour la télévision, tournés en Europe, Afrique et Asie. Autodidacte, son premier film documentaire suit un marathon dans l'Himalaya pakistanais et lui ouvre les portes des télévisions. Il promène sa caméra sur une montagne à visage humain. C’est le documentaire « La montagne à la Folie », film poignant, qui le révélera. Il suit des schizophrènes, internés à Charleville-Mézières, lors d’un séjour en haute montagne. Ce film obtiendra plus de quinze récompenses à travers l’Europe. Après avoir beaucoup travaillé pour les chaînes de télévision avec un penchant certain pour le service public et les films lointains, il décide d’écrire et de mettre en scène pour le cinéma. Il a réalisé trois courts-métrages tous primés en festival. "Les Eléphants Perdus" est son premier long métrage. L'imaginaire du voyage, de la nature et des grands espaces sont les éléments centraux de son univers.
Claude Andrieux is a French independent film director. He was born in 1956 in Grenoble, France. He is married and has two sons. Born into a modest family, he is the second of six children. He directs TV documentaries (shooting in Europe, Africa and Asia). Self-taught film maker, his first documentary follows a marathon in the Pakistani’s part of the Himalayas and gives him access to TV networks. Next with his film camera Claude Andrieux explores a mountain with a human face and his moving documentary entitled « La montagne à la Folie » (Madness mountain or Mountain passionately) is to reveal him as a talented director. He films a group of schizophrenic patients from a mental hospital in Charleville-Mézières on a pastoral trip to the mountains.This documentary won more than 15 awards across Europe. After a long and fruitful working collaboration with various TV networks and a strong natural inclination for the public service and remote film shoots, he decides to start writing and directing for the cinema. He has directed three short films all of which have won awards in the festival and has just finished his first feature film in Iceland, "The Lost Elephants".
